Joyce Anthony, 78, of Bogart, died Saturday, May 12, 2012.
Born in Watkinsville, she was a daughter of the late Royce and Willie Jackson Harris. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James “Bobby” Anthony, and sister, Gail Ridgeway.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Mark H. and Frances Anthony of Athens; daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and David Harris of Brentwood, Tenn.; and grandchildren, Mckenzie and Marci Anthony and Braden Harris.
No services will be held. The family has requested memorial contributions be made to The Humane Society.

Dorothy Marion Detrick
Dorothy Marion Detrick, 95, of Winder, died Friday, May 11, 2012.
Born in Detroit, Mich., she was a daughter of the late James and Kathryn Stumm Wilson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Detrick. She attended Winder First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Kitchel Ludy of California, Md., and Virgil Ludy Jr., of Boynton Beach, Fla.; daughters, Dora Jean Tudor of Otto, N.C., and Kathryn Herrin of Winder; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.

William J. Hutchins
William Jackson Hutchins, 63, of Winder, died Saturday, May 12, 2012.
Born in Buford, he was a son of Dorsey and Louise Thrash Hutchins. He graduated from Winder-Barrow High School, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Husbandry from the University of Georgia. He held an FFA Farmers Degree and was on the livestock judging team at UGA. In the 1980s, he received National Pork Producer of the Year honors. He served in every local office with the Georgia Farm Bureau and was serving as the 4th District Director, a post he had held for the past six years. He helped organize and was actively involved with the Barrow County Cattleman’s Association. He also served on the Barrow County Board of Commissioners. He was a member of Midway United Methodist Church. He was a father figure to his nephews and great-nephews and –nieces.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, are his brothers and sister-in-law, Dorsey Hutchins Jr., and Joe and Cindy Hutchins, all of Winder; nephews and their wives, Joey and Lee Hutchins and Jason and Sara Hutchins; and great-nephews and -niece, Jackson, Will, Emily and Blake Hutchins.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 14, 2012, at Midway United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Moore and Dr. Robert Hoffman officiating. The family has requested memorial contributions be made to Midway United Methodist Church building fund, P.O. Box 719, Auburn, GA 30011.

Marguerite Cox Mooney
Marguerite Cox Mooney, 93, of Winder, died Sunday, May 13, 2012.
Born in Taliaferro County, she was a daughter of the late Fred E. Cox and Mary Austin Cox. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Morgan Mooney; brothers, Lamar, Paul “Red”, Fred, Reese and Ralph Cox; sisters, Irene Morris, Montine, Inez, Myrtie and Hazel Cox; granddaughter, Vonda Carter; and son-in-law, Joe Carter. A homemaker, she was a member of Midway Christian Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Reba Carter of Winder; grandson, Tommy (Barbara) Carter; sister-in-law, Alice Cox of Benson, N.C.; nine nieces; two nephews; and several cousins.

Gary Brewer, 48, of Pendergrass, died Friday, May 4, 2012.
He was a son of James and Hazel Dills Brewer of Jackson County. He was a member of Living Waters Worship Center of Bogart and was a Deputy Sheriff with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, are sons, Josh (Heather) Brewer of Oconee County and Justin (Megan Carter) Brewer of Jackson County; siblings, Ann Dawson of Clarke County, Randall Brewer of Habersham County, Linda Rice of Greene County, Don Brewer of Madison County, the Rev. Born in Jackson County, she was a daughter tof the late J.T. Jr. and Beulah Lutrell Waddell Holland. She was a homemaker and a member of Hoschton United Methodist Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lonie Evans, and a brother, Jimmy Holland.

Dean E. Hoch
Dean E. Hoch, 79, of Jefferson, died Friday, May 4, 2012.
Born in Prospect, Ohio, he was a son of the late Carl and Opal June Baumgartner Hoch. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Norine Rice Hoch. Mr. Hoch was retired from UPS, where he worked as a delivery driver and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jefferson, and a member of the Jefferson Booster Club.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Kristy and Gary Reeser of Acworth, Denise Hoch and Jeff Marshall of Petaluma, Calif.; sister, Margene; sisters-in-law, Ruth and Marilyn; brothers, Giles and Loren; brother-in-law, Bill; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2012, at the Jefferson First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Chris Laskey officiating. A gathering of friends will be held in the church fellowship hall following the service.

Nancy Saunders Maughon, 90, of Winder, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012.
Born in Barrow County, she was a daughter of the late James Wiley and Juliet Bracewell Saunders. She was married to the late Howell Samuel (Jake) Maughon and was also preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.

Lona Mae Pursley Sanders, 92, of Statham, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012.
Born in Barrow County, she was a daughter of the late G.J. and Essie Stinchcomb. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Emory Dr. Pursley, and her second husband, Robert L. Sanders. She was retired from Carwood Manufacturing Company.

Marjorie Wages
Marjorie Nell Leach Wages, 86, of Auburn, died Friday, May 4, 2012.
Born in Summerville in 1926, she was a daughter of the late Ruth McClung Leach and Joseph William Leach Sr. She grew up in Rome. She married Guy William Wages of Auburn in 1948 and they worked and raised a family in Chattanooga, Tenn., before retiring back to Auburn.
She graduated from Georgia state College for Women in Milledgeville and then in later life returned to college to earn a Master’s degree in education with a specialty in teaching reading at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and Ooltewah Elementary.
In addition to her teaching career, she devoted much of her time to her community,. She was a Cub Scout den mother for many years and she and her husband were active in the PTA at Eastdale Elementary. She was a member of Harmony Rove Methodist Church where she headed the cemetery community. She did extensive work of the Lech and Wages families of Georgia and also worked for years cataloguing detailed information from gravestones for the “Barrow County Cemetery Book.” She also taught an adult Sunday school class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy William Wages Sr., and her brother, Joseph William Leach Jr.
Survivors include her sons, James Lee Wages of Auburn, Samuel Eugene Wages and wife Debra Drakeford Wages of Levelland, Texas, and Guy William Wages Jr., and wife, Cynthia Yeager Wages of Knoxville, Tenn.; daughter, Janet Lynn Wages of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Harmony Grove Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, at the funeral home.

Born in Barrow County, she was a daughter of the late G.J. and Essie Allen Stinchcomb and she was married to the late Edward Alton Collins. She was also preceded in death by a son, Harold Dean Collins; and siblings, Joe Allen, Robert, A.J. “Junebug” Stinchcomb and Runell Pursley. She retired from Landers and Smith and was a member of Braselton Church of God of Prophecy.

Joan Arlene Ruppenthal DeBoard, 68, of Jefferson, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012.
Born in Detroit, Mich., she was a daughter of the late Edna and Fred Ruppenthal. A homemaker and a flight attendant with Eastern Airlines, she also worked as a paralegal and a real estate broker in Florida and Georgia. She was a licensed insurance agent.

Charlotte Nelle McDowell Mau, 67, of Nicholson, formerly of Cordele. and of Perry, died Saturday, April 28, 2012.
A native of Vienna, Mrs. Mau was a daughter of the late Charles Adamson and Mary Nelle King McDowell. She was the personnel manager for the City of Cordele from 1985 until 1997. She was the secretary at Bethany United Methodist Church in Jefferson, where she was also a member. She had previously been a member of Lake Blackshear Baptist Church in Cordele and First Baptist Church of Perry. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Willard Mau.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Bethany United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike McLemore officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday May 3, 2012, in the Penia Baptist Church Cemetery in Cordele with the Rev. Phillip Streetman officiating. Geneva L. Perkins, 85, of Winder, died Tuesday, May 1, 2012.
Born in Barrow County, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Pearl Hall Lovin. She was a 1943 graduate of Winder-Barrow High School and was a retired Statham city clerk. She was a member of Chapel Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Gilbert Perkins, whom she married Aug. 23, 1947; sons, David Perkins and Dana (Ann) Perkins, all of Winder; daughter, Peggy (Randy) Poole of Winder; grandchildren, Lewis (Angie) Perkins, Clint Perkins, Heath (Aly) Perkins and Dave (Staci) Perkins; and great-grandchildren, Reggan, Cody, Hunter and Clayton Perkins.
