The Mill Creek football program came into last Friday’s game at North Gwinnett clinging onto hopes of making another late-season push to grab one of the four playoff spots out of Region 7-AAAAA.

After a physical 29-7 loss to the No. 6 Bulldogs, Mill Creek is now left with setting its sights oeek n finishing out the year with a winning record.

Mill Creek stays alive with win over Mitlon in Columbus

COLUMBUS – Mill Creek checked off step one in what could be a three-step process Friday in the 5-A state softball tournament at the South Commons Softball Complex.

The Lady Hawks downed Milton 10-2 in five innings to advance in the loser’s bracket and will play Brookwood at 3 p.m. today.

Mill Creek loses extra-inning thriller in Columbus

COLUMBUS – Coming into the 5-A state softball tournament, Mill Creek head coach Roger Parham attributed that with so much evenly matched competition in Columbus, sometimes games just don’t go the way you want them to.

Thursday, in Mill Creek’s opening game at the South Commons Softball Complex, things didn’t go the Lady Hawks way late, as they fell to Hillgrove 5-4 in eight innings to fall into the loser’s bracket.

Mill Creek seeks second state title this weekend

With a team loaded with senior talent, Mill Creek makes the trip to Columbus this weekend with the hopes of coming back to Hoschton Saturday as state champions.

The Lady Hawks are one of eight teams remaining in Class 5-A and will begin the double-elimination tournament today at the Commons Softball Complex in Columbus, as they take on Hillgrove at 5:30 p.m.

Mill Creek returns to Columbus for the first time since 2008, when they walked away as champions. Three current players – Nikki Sagermann, Chandler Griffin and Jenna Holland – were on the varsity team (all as freshmen) when the Lady Hawks won their first and only state title.

Jefferson volleyball seniors leaving legacy

Not many high school athletes can lay claim to building a program and helping produce competitive teams year in and year out.

That is exactly what the senior class of the Jefferson High volleyball team has done, and according to Mike Paul, the head coach of the program for the last five years, this year’s seniors will not soon be forgotten.
