Barrow County Farm Bureau encourages sixth, seventh and eighth grade Students to enter the Georgia Farm Bureau Middle School Essay contest. Students should address the topic “How has Agriculture changed in the Last 75 years?”
Winners will be selected for first, second and third place in Barrow County. Cash prizes will be given on each level.
The Barrow County Farm Bureau also sponsors an art contest for grades 9-12. The artwork should be drawn in black ink or dark soft lead pencil on an 8-1/2 x 11-in piece of white paper. The artwork should be camera ready.
The artwork will judged on how well it represents Georgia agriculture.
First, second and third place winners will be rewarded with cash prizes.
The first place winner in each contest will be entered in the Georgia Farm Bureau 4th District competition. The 4th District winners will compete on the state level. Cash prizes are also given at these levels.

FARM BUREAU TO AWARD SCHOLARSHIPS IN 2013
Georgia Farm Bureau will award a total of $14,250 in scholarships to 10 high school seniors who plan to pursue a degree in agricultural and environmental sciences, family and consumer sciences or a related agricultural field.
Students submitting an application must be a high school senior for the current academic year and plan to be enrolled in a unit of the University System of Georgia or Berry College during the 2013-2014 academic year.
The top three students will each receive a scholarship of $3,000.
The remaining seven students will each receive a $750 scholarship. Barrow County Farm Bureau will also award two $2,000 scholarships to students meeting the same qualifications.
