Kenerly will continue to serve as Hoschton mayor

Theresa Kenerly, who has been acting as mayor since the resignation of Erma Denney, will serve as mayor of the west Jackson County town through December.

Kenerly was the lone qualifier to the unexpired mayoral term.

The unexpired term of city council post she previously held will be filled during a March 19 special election. Qualifying for Post 6, for the term ending December of 2015, will be announced.

Hoschton residents who are not registered to vote may register at the Jackson County Office of Elections and Registration, located in the Jackson County Administration Building at 67 Athens St., in Jefferson through Feb. 19 and be eligible to cast a ballot in the March special election.

Advance voting will be held from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, through Friday, March 8, in the county elections.

Early voting will be held from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday, March 11, through Friday, March 15, in the Braselton Police & Municipal Court Facility, located at 5040 Highway 53.

On March 19, the polling location at the historic Hoschton Depot will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
