Suspects in an area theft ring are in jail thanks to efforts led by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Gailey

Three individuals were arrested in connection to several area thefts. Terry Dean Gailey, 46, of Carlton, was arrested and faces charges in five counties.

Gailey was traced back to a Dec. 23 theft at a poultry farm in Pendergrass. Vending machines were broken into and an unknown amount of money within them was stolen.

Then, on Jan. 3 Gailey, Thomas Joshua Brown, 34, of Commerce, and Tonya Leann Stockton, 30, of Nicholson, were all connected to a burglary at a cattle farm in Pendergrass. The owner had experienced multiple burglaries and installed motion detecting cameras which captured video of the incident.

Brown

On Jan. 4, a fire was reported at Diamond Hill Church Residence in Maysville. The fire, at the home where Stockton and Gailey were staying is believed to have been arson. However, while investigating the fire, officers found a car tag from a vehicle stolen from the Hall County School Board. The vehicle, with a different tag — stolen from Madison County — was nearby.

Further investigation led to additional charges. The Banks County Sheriff’s Office charged Gailey with one count theft by taking, one count entering auto and one count criminal trespass; Gailey was charged with one count of burglary by the Elberton Police Department. He was charged with theft by taking from the Gainesville Police Department in relation to the vehicle stolen from the Hall County Board of Education. The Oglethorpe County Sheriff’s Office charged him with two counts burglary and one count entering an auto, and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office charged Gailey with felony burglary, felony theft by receiving, misdemeanor theft by receiving and criminal damage to property.

Stockton

Gailey was found and arrested in Elbert County on outstanding warrants from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Brown was also arrested on charges of felony burglary, felony child support arrest orders and a misdemeanor hold for probation.

Stockton was arrested and charged with felony theft by receiving stolen property, felony being party to the crime of burglary and misdemeanor theft by receiving.
