Defensive tackle Kelsey Griffin of the Mill Creek High School football earned a starting role in the 2013 Under Armour Game. The battle between the best in the land took place in Tampa, Fl. on Jan.5 and Griffin shined on the defensive line alongside other highly skilled players.

As of right now, David Williams, a running back out of Imhotep Charter High School in Philadelphia, Pa. is currently the only other player listed in ESPN’s Top 150 Recruit that is committed to the University of South Carolina.

Griffin was under the tutelage of long time coach Steve Mariucci. Mariucci spent time coaching the Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, and the Green Bay Packers.

Griffin, along with Alvin Kamara (Norcross High School), Robert Nkemdiche (Grayson High School) and Trey Johnson (Central Gwinnett High School) represented Gwinnett County.

Griffin finished second on the team in total tackles with 108. He also achieved nine sacks, 10 quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles, two fumble returns, three pass break ups, one interception, and one score on defense.
