Agents from the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office Crime Task Force arrested three persons following the execution of a search warrant at 413 E. Midland Ave., in Winder on Friday, Jan. 4. Sheriff’s investigators were looking for controlled substances, which they found, along with other contraband. Almost 10 pounds of marijuana was seized, with an estimated street value of approximately $20,000.
Also approximately $3,000 in U.S. currency was seized along with a shotgun and a .38 revolver. The .38 caliber revolver had been stolen in Walton County.
Two occupants of the residence, Charles McDaid, 55, and Darrell Jackson, 29, were arrested at along with Mario Peters, 22, of Statham.
Sheriff’s investigators received a tip that drugs were being sold at the residence. Investigators then placed the residence under surveillance, eventually developing probable cause for the warrant.
The Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. team executed the warrant around 9 p.m. Upon S.W.A.T. entry, Peters and Jackson jumped through a glass window attempting to escape. They were both immediately apprehended.
McDaid is charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute, possession of schedule IV narcotics, felony theft by receiving, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of drug related objects.
Jackson is charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute, felony theft by receiving, possession of a firearm during commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by convicted felon and obstruction of an officer.
Peters is charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute and obstruction of an officer.
