Playoff coverage for Mill Creek and Jefferson

Jefferson and Mill Creek are underway in the second round of the state playoffs. Stay tuned for coverage of the Dragons and Hawks as they continue their playoff journey tonight. Please stay tuned for frequent updates.

The Wildcats of Westminster High School didn’t waste any time getting into the end zone. Jefferson High School fumbled and it was recovered by Harrison Fiveash. Cameron Seward punched one in from three yards for a 7-0 lead over the Dragons.

Jefferson quarterback Bryant Shirreffs responded with a one-yard touchdown run on fourth and goal. The game is currently tied at seven.

Shirreffs connects with Dalton Hill on a 12-yard touchdown pass, giving the Dragons a 14-7 lead. Sammy Williams punched one in for the Dragons who are now up 21-7. The play derived from Shirreffs who took off for 71-yards, putting Jefferson at the four yard line. Shirreffs continues to be the workhorse for the Dragons and finished the first half with 154 yards.

The Dragons led 21-7 at the half. Fiveash came out of the half and made an interception for Westminster with 7:24 left in the third quarter. However the Wildcats were not able to convert. Shirreffs just completed a 56-yard touchdown run. He currently has 200 yards on the night. Shirreffs is continuing his highlight reel with a 33-yard touchdown from a fake punt with less than twelve minutes remaining in the game. The Jefferson defense stifled the Wildcats and the Dragons sworn 9:45

The Hawks of Mill Creek High School took a jab of their own by Brookwood High School. With 9:08 left in the first quarter, Ky Priester caught a 35-yard touchdown pass to go up 7-0 over the Hawks.

However, the Hawks responded as Michael Cheeks made a 60-yard touchdown reception nearly two minutes after the Broncos drew first blood.

The Broncos galloped down the field with a 70-yard run and finished the drive with a 13-yard touchdown run to pay dirt by Jamaal Cole with 6:22 left in the first quarter. Brookwood is currently up 14-7.

Mill Creek quarterback Daniel David scored on a 19 yard touchdown run, tying the game at 14 a piece. The Hawks added another dagger as Jacorey Lewis scored on a 16-yard touchdown scamper with less than eight minutes left in the half. MCHS is up 21-14.

Brookwood just fumbled and it was recovered by defensive tackle Kelsey Griffin. David just finished things off with a touchdown run as well as Lewis. The Hawks are trying to put the Broncos away early and is currently up 42-17 at the top of the third quarter. Lewis added another short run into the end zone and Devozea Felton capped things off with a six-yard touchdown run. Mill Creek took a 56-17 win.
