The Jefferson Rotary Club is again this year teaming up with Holiday Connection to host the 2012 Community Bicycle Drive.
The holiday season is upon us, and Holiday Connection is in high gear. The purpose of Holiday Connection is to coordinate the efforts of organizations serving children and families so that duplication of families receiving holiday assistance is minimized. This is a collaborative project led by partners of Jackson County Family Connection.
The Jefferson Rotary Club is once again teaming up with Jackson County Family Connection and The Potters House to restore used bicycles and give them to children in need. New and/or gently used bikes are being sought.
If you have a bicycle that you can donate, drop it off at Jefferson City Hall, located at 147 Athens St., in Jefferson, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. In addition, City Manager John Ward will be at City Hall from 5-7 p.m. on Nov. 28 so that you can drop bikes off after work.
All bikes must be dropped off by Nov. 28 so there will be time to refurbish those that need it.
“As you know, Jackson County is growing by leaps and bounds. The number of families who need assistance at this time of year is also growing,” said Ward. “This year more than ever we need to rally together to achieve our ultimate goal: to ensure that all families in need of assistance receive help during the holiday season.”
