The Jefferson High School swim team may be in its first year of business but the Dragons didn’t have any trouble garnering qualifying times for state. Head Coach Lane Guzman was pleased to see his team meet the requirements that will allow them to compete at Georgia Tech next year.

“The Jefferson High School swim team competed on Saturday at the Ruby Fulbright Aquatics Center in Clarksville. We had two state qualifying times. Swimmers must make qualifying times to compete in the GHSA State Swim Meet at Georgia Tech in February,” stated Guzman.

The Dragons have produced two swimmers that will have chance to bring home a state title to Jefferson.

“Camile Porter qualified in the 50 free (100 free in last meet) and Jacob Musgrove qualified in the 500 free,” Guzman stated.

Guzman, along with the help of assistant coaches Tricia Bartoletta and Tammy Kelley, are looking forward to seeing each swimmer continue to mature in the sport, including those that will be a part of the swim teams future.

“We are very proud of all of our swimmers. They continue to get faster every week. Our high school team will continue to get stronger over the years as the middle school swimmers move up,” said Guzman.

The Dragons will return to action on Dec. 14 in Gainesville at Frances Meadows Aquatic Center.
