The Tree Lighting Ceremony in front of the Braselton Antique Mall starts the Celebrating the Holidays season for the Town of Braselton.
The Braselton Rotary Club decorates the 20-foot tall tree and helps to sponsor this event each year. The tree will be going up this week in anticipation to the Saturday tree-lighting event.
The Chattahoochee Chain Gang from Cleveland is back on the musical entertainment lineup. Earlier in the week, the group had cancelled and Doug Thompson performing his Elvis music, had been added.
This year’s ceremony begins at 5 p.m. Bleachers will be provided but lawn chairs are welcomed.
The tradition started by the Braselton Brothers of providing children and senior citizens with a bag containing an apple, an orange and some candy will continue. A few other prizes will be given away between 6:30-7 p.m.
The theme for this year’s event is “The Holidays are Going to the Dogs” and everyone is guessing who will be the special guest to light the tree at 7 p.m.
“The guest will be a surprise and the method used to light the tree will also be a surprise but will delight the children and adults,” say organizers.
Arthur Christmas is the free movie in the park under the holiday stars beginning at 8 p.m. Bring lawn chairs or blankets.
