Both Mill Creek basketball teams and the Jackson County girls’ were winners on Tuesday night in region action.

BASKETBALL

Jackson County girls 57, Hart County 56: The Lady Panthers held on to win Tuesday night over Region 8B-AA foe Hart County. Four Jackson County players – Katie Phillips (19), Danni Cunningham (14), Victoria Fontana (12) and Mason Garland (10) – scored in double figures, a first this season. Phillips had 11 rebounds to go along with her season high 19 points and Cunningham had a game-high 19 rebounds.

Mill Creek boys 57, Collins Hill 49: Senior post Daniel Loudermilk led the Hawks with 18 points as Mill Creek completed the regular season sweep of Collins Hill in the regular season. Trevon Shaw had 11 and Paul Evan had 10 for Mill Creek (16-3). The Hawks will travel to Duluth Friday.

Mill Creek girls 51, Collins Hill 32: The Lady Hawks took care of an overmatched Collins Hill team Tuesday on the road. Mill Creek jumped out to a 16-2 lead at the end of the first quarter and led 31-7 at the half. Jasmine Carter led the Lady Hawks with 17 points, while Nadiya Miller and India Dillard each added 10. Carter also led her team in rebounds with nine on the night. The Lady Hawks will head to Duluth to face the Lady Wildcats Friday in a Region 7-AAAAA game.
